Sidegate Primary School

Seize Opportunity, Create Success

All children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 receive a piece of fruit each day as part of the NHS School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme. In Reception classes, semi-skimmed milk is also provided through the Cool Milk Scheme. These are government funded initiatives. Children have snack in the classroom at break time and as such do not need to bring any other snack with them unless they have a specific medical need.  Further information on this scheme can be found below.

If your child is in Years 1 - 6, milk will be available at break time for a subsidised cost of 22p per day but you will need to sign up to the scheme.  Visit the Cool Milk section on our website to find out how to achieve this.

In Key Stage 2 (Years 3-6), children may bring a break time snack into school, we encourage you to provide them with a healthy snack that is low in salt, sugar and fat. Caterlink, our school caterers, sell snacks at break times to pupils in KS2 only - these are usually priced at 50p; fruit juices and water are also available. Please ensure lunch money accounts are topped up if you wish your child to purchase a snack.
