Safeguarding and Early Help Offer

Sidegate Child Protection Team

Sidegate Primary School has a Governing Body whose legal responsibility it is to make sure that the school has an effective safeguarding policy and procedures in place and to monitor that the school complies with them. The Governing Body should also ensure that the policy is made available to parents and carers if requested (this is under the policies page on our website). It is also the responsibility of the Governing Body to ensure that all staff and volunteers are properly vetted to make sure they are safe to work with the pupils who attend our school and that the school has procedures for handling allegations of abuse made against members of staff (including the Head Teacher and volunteer helpers). The Governing Body will ensure that there is a Named Governor and a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) who has lead responsibility for dealing with all safeguarding issues in our school.

The school's Safeguarding Governor and Safer Recruitment Champion is Mrs Debbie Clarke.

Alternate Designated Safeguarding Leads are: Mrs Wendy James, Mr Matthew Ferrier, Mrs Anna Heaven and  Mrs Jess Mann.  The school's e-safety Lead is Mrs Ailsa Jackson.

Keeping Children Safe in Education dated September 2023, sets out the legal duties we must follow to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people in our schools.

If you have a concern regarding the well-being of a child, please contact Mrs Jackson to report it. Alternatively, you may contact Suffolk County Council's Social Services Team "Customer First" on 0808 800 4005.

Sidegate Offer of Early Help

At Sidegate Primary School we understand that family and home life can be stressful and have unforeseen complications. When these challenges occur, our families may require some additional help and support, either from staff at the school or from external agencies.  To meet this need, we have a coordinated Early Help Offer that explains how we can support and advise our families during these difficult and complicated times.
