Music
Music is a universal language that embodies one of the highest forms of creativity (The National Curriculum).
Music is taught in each class weekly, using the Sing Up Music Scheme from Year 1 – Year 6.
Sing Up creates a solid foundation to deliver a creative and engaging programme of high-quality classroom music activity. This programme is designed and written by subject specialists, setting out the skills, knowledge and understanding to be gained by all pupils at each stage of learning. This scheme of work follows a progression of skills across the year groups, enabling the build upon their previous music skills.
How the Sing Up scheme supports learning:
Sing Up's music curriculum, is a scheme of work used from Year 1 to Year 6. It represents a complete and progressive library of resources used for whole class teaching, that meets the requirements of the National Curriculum for Music, and suggested approaches of the Model Music Curriculum (Singing, Listening, Composing, Performance/Instrumental Performance).
How the Sing Up scheme is structured:
Sing Up covers a broad and diverse range of repertoire, approaches, and musical traditions. It supports a fully-integrated approach to musical development, connecting the interrelated strands of singing, playing, improvising, composing, listening, and appraising.
Year 4 music:
In Year 4, we have specialist music teachers from the Norfolk and Suffolk Music Hub, who teach the children how to play a musical instruments. The children learn either the cello, baritone horn or the clarinet.
