Sidegate Primary School

Seize Opportunity, Create Success

Welcome

Welcome to Sidegate Primary School

Welcome to Sidegate Primary School.  We are a large, busy and vibrant school in the north of Ipswich with over 650 pupils across our 23 classes.

Sidegate is an inclusive school. Our pupils have a broad range of abilities and backgrounds. They begin their journey with us in Reception (EYFS) - the academic year* in which they are 5 years old and finish with us in Year 6 - the academic year in which they turn 11. In addition to our mainstream classes, we have a Specialist Education Unit (SEU) which consists of two classes which provide specialist education for pupils with a range of complex needs.

*Note - academic years run from 1st September to 31st August.

Our school ethos is exemplified in the words “seize opportunity, create success” and we work hard to ensure that this is embedded in the daily life of the school. We offer a broad, rich curriculum to our pupils alongside a wide range of extra-curricular opportunities. Our offer to our families is designed to develop children’s character and equip them with the knowledge, understanding and skills they need to be ready for the next stage in their learning journey. Arts and culture play a significant part in the life of the school and are woven through our wider curriculum.   More information on our aims and values can be found here.

The school is located on a large site with extensive playing fields and playgrounds. We have invested in providing a wide range of learning resources for our pupils and our facilities include; an indoor, heated swimming pool; a dedicated area for Forest Schools; a small pond and a variety of nature areas; a large library/learning zone; a dedicated classroom for teaching music; and a good supply of pupil IT devices.

We work closely with the two independent providers who share our school site:

We encourage new families to visit the school and get a feel for what we do. Senior Leaders offer a number of scheduled school tours for prospective new families during the year. If you are unable to attend one of the scheduled tours we will do our very best to accommodate your needs. Meetings can also be arranged with our Assistant Head (Inclusion) to discuss any special educational needs (SEN), medical needs or disabilities that may be relevant to your child. Please contact the school office for further information.

If you would like a paper copy of a document or other information published on our website please email mail@sidegate.net or call in at the school office.  There will be no charge.
